The Futurebuilders Fund is managed by Social Investment Business, the UK’s largest social investor. It provided loan financing, often combined with grants and professional support to third sector organisations in England that needed investment to help them bid for, win and deliver public service contracts.
Community Campus received Futurebuilders investment in 2007, the purpose of which was to develop our core services by purchasing a further 10 empty properties to create 14 supported tenancies, with all of the refurbishment being carried out by apprentices, one of which has even taken up residency in the property he helped to renovate.
The investment has helped the organisation strengthen its case for ongoing revenue support to enhance its overall development, which has seen us extend our services in Hartlepool, working with clients with a background of substance misuse.
We are now less adverse to the concept of borrowing as part of a funding package that includes development of physical assets.
