Work Placements

What is a Work Placement?
Work placements are an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the world of work.

What kind of work will I be doing?
It all depends on what area of work your placement covers, hopefully you will have an interest in following a career in the area of your placement. For example, if you expressed an interest in carpentry and joinery then we would do our best to place you with one of our joiners.

What work placements do you do?
We can offer construction trades activities via our Key Skills department, you may also wish to follow a career in office administration or tenant support.

Would I need qualifications?
Not necessarily, you do need to be willing to carry out all reasonable work related requests and if you chose a work placement in administration, then we would expect you to have, or be studying towards, GCSE Grades A-C.

How long do work placements last?
Work placements can vary in structure, you may have had your placement arranged by your school or college and must attend on the agreed day(s) of each week.

Is there anything to do when your placement has finished?
Yes! You may wish to become a volunteer.

Do you get paid?
Not if you are on placement. However you do gain valuable experience and if you come as a volunteer you may be eligible for expenses to pay for your travel and lunch.

Note the training department is always available to answer your queries.
