The Accommodation and Support Services Panel acts as a sole gateway into a range of housing and support options for young people aged between 16 and 25 years of age.
In order to be considered at the Accommodation and Support Panel for Young People applicants should meet the following criteria.
For supported housing services:
• Aged 16 to 25 years on application.
• Be leaving care, homeless or threatened with homelessness, teenage parent, or otherwise at risk for example due to experience of domestic violence.
• Have a demonstrable need for a level of housing related support that can be provided by the services represented at the panel.
• Have recourse to relevant benefits, grants or private funds to ensure payment for the support service and accommodation in accommodation-based services.
• Normally be a resident of Middlesbrough or in exceptional circumstances have some other demonstrably strong connection, such as through family, employment or established support links with local services.
• Individuals not ordinarily resident in Middlesbrough will be considered by the panel but only after the Panel Coordinator receives written confirmation that the placing authority will continue to provide and fund the individual’s existing and future care needs.
N.B. All supported housing applications will be assessed by Erimus Homeless Team to ensure that Eligibility Criteria is met.
For floating support services:
• Aged 16 to 25 years on application.
• Be at risk of losing an unsupported tenancy or be moving into a tenancy and require support to establish the tenancy.
• Be a resident of Middlesbrough.
This criteria will be used to make a decision as to whether or not an applicant is accepted by the panel for consideration.
